✈️ Direct Flights Between Casablanca and Smara Twice a Week

As a key player in Morocco’s national air transport sector, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) continues to uphold its commitment to regional connectivity, tourism promotion, and socio-economic development. Through a strategic plan to expand domestic air routes, the national carrier is enhancing its presence in the southern provinces of the Kingdom with a broader and more diversified offering.

Developed in partnership with the regions of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Guelmim-Oued Noun, this plan is part of a comprehensive national strategy aimed at interconnecting all regions of Morocco, better meeting citizens’ needs, and supporting local economic growth.

Since 2005, RAM’s air service from the southern provinces has seen steady growth, increasing from an average of 6 weekly flights (90,000 seats) to 63 weekly flights, representing nearly one million seats by 2025.

“The development of domestic air connections, particularly from the southern provinces, is fully in line with our mission and with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him. By strengthening our presence in southern Morocco, we aim to effectively connect the regions, promote mobility, and support territorial dynamism. The launch of new routes and the enrichment of our existing programs reflect our firm commitment to linking all parts of the Kingdom and fostering social, family, and economic vitality across the country,”
said Mr. Hamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc.

New and Historic Route: Casablanca–Es-Smara

For the first time ever, a direct air route between Casablanca and Es-Smara will be launched on November 6, 2025, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Green March.

  • Casablanca → Es-Smara: Departure 16:50 – Arrival 19:20

Facilitating Mobility and Boosting Tourism

These major developments are part of RAM’s vision to facilitate travel for citizens living in the southern provinces and strengthen domestic tourism by promoting interregional mobility.

They also enhance international accessibility to the southern provinces — rich in cultural and natural tourism potential — via the airline’s main hub in Casablanca, and, to a lesser extent, through Marrakech Airport.
